What's going on over the Easter weekend?

We've got a couple of great Easter activities for members lined up over the Easter weekend, including a chance to be part of our tennis community by helping to get the grounds ready for the summer tennis season, and some friendly competition in the first of our American tournaments of the year.

Good Friday Working Party

On Good Friday, 14 April from 10.30am, we traditionally have a working party to help get the Club ready for the new season. A number of our members volunteer to give up a few hours of their time to help with some of the jobs required around the Club. There will be coffee/tea and hot cross buns supplied by the club and we will also arrange a fish and chips lunch for those that want them (the cost of lunch is not covered by the club). In addition, the bar will be open and a 'free' drink or two supplied to our volunteers. With the recent progress made in and around the Clubhouse (see pictures), there are a few finishing touches to be getting on with.

The day is usually a nice sociable affair while some useful work gets done so it would be lovely to see you there, even if you can only come along for an hour or two. Please bring any tools that you think might be useful.

​Easter Sunday American Tournament

Then on Easter Sunday, 16 April from 2.30pm, we kick off the new season with an American tournament, which is a friendly social tennis tournament played for approximately 3 hours where you will be drawn to play with different partners against different opponents in every game. We will likely play 5 sets of 7 games and the player with the highest score wins a modest prize. The entry cost is £1 per person. The more people playing, the better! We also intend to provide some refreshments that are available to purchase and the bar will be open afterwards.

It would be great to see lots of our members at some stage over the Easter weekend but if you are going away for Easter then we hope you have a lovely time and hope to see you on the tennis court/at a social again soon!
