The usual kick-off to the new season of Easter will be with us shortly so here are the details of what will be going on at the club over that weekend.
On Good Friday 25 March there will be a working party commencing at 10.30am where our members come down to the club and help get us ready for the new season. Some of the jobs to be done on the day include - fixing the scoreboards and court numbers to the green fences, replacing the nets on the courts where required, brushing the courts, tidying up the drive, tidying up the changing room, pavilion, kitchen & bar areas, painting the new benches in the pavilion etc. So please come along and help the club - if you haven't come along before you will be very welcome. Coffee and hot cross buns will be served, we will obtain fish & chips for those that want them at lunchtime plus the bar will be open for a free drink or two for those who come down to help. It is usually a very sociable few hours too so we look forward to seeing you there. On Easter Sunday 27 March there will be an American Tournament starting at 2.30pm where doubles matches are played with different partners throughout the afternoon. Afternoon tea will be served from around 4.30pm and the bar will be open for drinks afterwards. Why not come down for a friendly game of tennis with your HWLTC friends? Despite the somewhat changeable weather, we had a good evening's tennis with only a couple of brief rain stops. It made it feel a bit Wimbledonesque!!
It was good to welcome Adrian from the Improvers group, joining in and playing well. After a couple of hours of play, we reverted to the Club's bar and 15 of us sat down and enjoyed fish and chips (at a nominal cost of £6.50); the TV was on and the pool table was in use. All in all, it was a fun and easy-going night with friends; not expensive and no dressing up required! You can find out more about Play & Stay on our Social tennis page.
