I first learned to play tennis at Great Missenden LTC starting at the age of 10 and it became a major part of my life in my teens. After a break from tennis for several years while away in Coventry doing a degree, I moved to Harrow and joined HWLTC in about 1986. I served on the committee for a number of years in the 90s at a time when there was a big leap forward when the club acquired the freehold to the land and was able to lay carpet grass courts for the first time. I captained the men’s 3rd team for about 13 years and also the men’s 4th team for a while. After a long gap I have recently returned to the committee as Treasurer and I can see that the current committee is more ambitious and innovative than the ones I remember from the past. It is a lovely, small, informal club and there is a feeling of optimism that the club can thrive in these more challenging times.
