The lists for entering the adult club tournaments this summer (May-July) are now posted in the clubhouse. The tournaments are: Men's and Ladies' Singles, Men's and Ladies' Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Veterans' Doubles. As we did last year, we also plan to run a Plate Event for those who are knocked out in the early rounds of the Men's Singles if we have a good amount of competitors.
Who are these tourneys for? These tournaments are open to all Full and Intermediate (ie student) members. And this year, 5-day members may also take part at a cost of £5 per tournament (note that there is no charge for entering the Veterans' Tournament). We would love for lots of our full, intermediate or paying 5-day members to enter the tournaments to make the competitions more interesting (however, please do not enter if you know you're going away for longer than 2 weeks during the tournaments or if you cannot make finals day). What dates do I need to know? The draw for the tournaments will take place on Friday 3 May (at the same time as the Wimbledon draw) and Finals day will be held on Sunday 7 July, the middle Sunday of Wimbledon. To view previous champions, take a look on our Adult Competitions page.

The Easter weekend was full of social and community, with fun activities and tasty food on Good Friday and Easter Sunday (and the usual Saturday social in between, of course).
Now that the snow has gone, our thoughts turn to the Easter period and the traditional start of the new tennis season so here are the details of what will be going on at the club over that weekend.
We have our Autumn Mixed tournament winners! Congratulations to Simon and Aisling who won 10-8 against Steve James and Ryan after being 40-0 down at 8-8.
Our Mixed Drawn tournament took place on Sunday 15 October. Six pairs were drawn and it was all to play for on the day. In the end, it was the experienced partnership of Tom Lockie and Steph Cochrane that took the title, beating Boris and Rosita 6–3 in the final .
We had some fantastic games in the Men's and Ladies' Drawn Tournaments on Sunday 1 October. The Men's ended in a tight final between Petr & Ryan and Kevin & Kristian, and the Ladies' Final between Hannah & Rosita and Maggie & Tasha saw deuce galore.
So much has happened since our last newsletter, including summer tournaments, team matches, Open Day, Finals Day, Junior Tournament Day, various BBQs, junior camps… SO MUCH. So let’s have a read about just a snippet of the goings-on at HWLTC in our Autumn newsletter.
A beautiful morning on Sunday 27 August set the scene for the final American tournament of the Season. Going into it, Margaret led the Ladies' competition by one point over Reena, and Steve led the Men's competition by one point over Kevin - all to play for for the American Tournament Cup!
Our Men's Singles finalists have been itching to finish their Final after ending it on 6-4 before the rain got too unbearable to play in on Finals Day, and on Saturday 12 August, they finally got the chance to do so. Congratulations to Henry on becoming Men's Singles champion, claiming his first Harrow Weald title in style by coming back from one set down to beat Simon 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
