Following Government and LTA advice, the clubhouse and courts are closed until further notice.
We hope to see you all again when restrictions are lifted. Stay healthy! HWLTC Committee

In light of the Government’s advice regarding the current Coronavirus problem, we have decided to suspend all club organised events with immediate effect, this means that there will be no Social Play on a Tuesday or Thursday morning, Wednesday evening or Saturday afternoon and we will not be opening the bar at any time.
All R&D group coaching sessions are also suspended with immediate effect, if you have any questions about this please call Darren (07960 071478). The courts will remain open for you to play on, if you wish to, but you will need to bring your own tennis balls (to ensure no transfer of virus on the balls). Please continue to follow government advice whilst at the club by washing your hands and not shaking hands at the end of a match, as is our normal etiquette, elbow bumps or hands in prayer position are good alternatives. We will continue to follow the government and LTA advice and will update you if things change, in the meantime stay healthy and safe. - HWLTC Committee There are a few important dates that we wanted to make our members are aware of:
We had a lot of fun celebrating Christmas on Wednesday 18 December, with cheese, bread, chocs, raffle and, of course, drinks at the bar. But it was made extra special with trophy presentations for the winners of our 2019 tournaments - see some of our pics below. Happy New Year all!
Julia Lamb and Margaret Boyer won a hard fought final 6-3 against Reena Cotsford-Dolden and Rosita Herath to take the trophy.
A very close and tense Men's Drawn Doubles competition saw the father and son combination of Stuart and Ryan McTiernan beat Mihai Hutanu and Krystian Ozynski 6-4 to take the trophy.
On Sunday 7 July, we held a glorious Finals Day in which 10 champions were crowned kings and queens of the HWLTC courts on a super sunny day. There were three nail-biting three-setters in the ladies' singles, men's singles and mixed doubles, and, of course, countless glasses of pimm’s.
Well done to all involved in the tennis, bar, food and organising! Take a look at some of our pics below, and view all photos and winners from the day on our Tournaments page. The pressure's building and the nerves are jangling as we head towards Finals Day. Our finalists have played their matches and are in training for the big day! Come down to the Club on Sunday 7 July to see who are crowned 2019 champions. (And enjoy some grub, have a drink, and hopefully soak up some sunshine while you're at it.)
The lists for entering the adult club tournaments this summer (May-July) are now posted in the clubhouse. The tournaments are: Men's and Ladies' Singles, Men's and Ladies' Doubles, Mixed Doubles and Veterans' Doubles. As we did last year, we also plan to run a Plate Event for those who are knocked out in the early rounds of the Men's Singles if we have a good amount of competitors.
Who are these tourneys for? These tournaments are open to all Full and Intermediate (ie student) members. And this year, 5-day members may also take part at a cost of £5 per tournament (note that there is no charge for entering the Veterans' Tournament). We would love for lots of our full, intermediate or paying 5-day members to enter the tournaments to make the competitions more interesting (however, please do not enter if you know you're going away for longer than 2 weeks during the tournaments or if you cannot make finals day). What dates do I need to know? The draw for the tournaments will take place on Friday 3 May (at the same time as the Wimbledon draw) and Finals day will be held on Sunday 7 July, the middle Sunday of Wimbledon. To view previous champions, take a look on our Adult Competitions page. Membership subscriptions for the forthcoming year are due from 1 April. The subscription costs for the year are below and you can find out more about the options and download the appropriate form(s) from our Memberships page.
2019-20 membership prices:
Current members can receive a small discount if subscriptions are paid before 30 April. |
